Jamieson Receives Outstanding Graduate Student Award for Research

Bioengineering graduate student Ryan Jamieson, PhD’23, received the 2023 Outstanding Graduate Student Award for Research, which recognizes those that have shown an exceptional ability to conduct high-level research and make contributions to the scholarly literature in their fields.

Jamieson conducts pioneering research into developing a potential therapy for asthma that targets collagen deposition in asthmatic airways. To this end, Jamieson has devised a method to overcome the force-dependent inhibition of collagenase enzyme and deciphered the underlying mechanisms. His work was selected by the American Physiological Society for APS Select, a collection of the best papers in physiology.
