Creating Impactful Medical Devices to Improve Lives
Caline Pechdimaljian, MS’25, bioengineering, started her career in pharmaceutical process engineering research and development. Her work with pharmaceutical manufacturing sparked her curiosity for looking into targeted therapeutics and medical device development. The bioengineering master’s program led her to discover her passion for working on technology to improve the health and quality of life of patients and communities.

A Student’s Personal Experiences Inspired Their Career Aspirations
Emmanuel Amoako, MS’25, bioengineering with a concentration in biomedical devices and bioimaging, used his personal experiences from living in Ghana as a driving force to begin developing accessible, low-cost medical devices for low-resource countries. His passion for helping the community, mixed with his co-op experience and research opportunities, has allowed him to jump into the field of bioengineering and make an impact on the world.

Kavish Khamesra and his Head Start on Sleep… Research
Despite being a first-year undergraduate, bioengineering student Kavish Khamesra, E’28, presented two years of high school research on sleep apnea in Pacific Islanders at the 2025 SLEEP Conference, demonstrating an early passion for neuroscience and medical device research.

Narges Yazdani, PhD’24, bioengineering, focused her research on integrin-mediated mechanotransduction and its effects on neural stem cell behavior. Her work contributed to peer-reviewed publications and presentations at conferences and had a co-op at AbbVie Bioresearch Center.
